Zamora
IFEZA, Zamora (Spain)
The event was held in IFEZA (Fair of Zamora), Zamora city, Spain in February 2025.
IFEZA has two main halls with surface areas of 2,100 and 5,800 square meters, and a capacity for 4,500 people, which greatly increases the possibilities for exhibitions and events with audiovisual support compared to the 2023 edition.
As for the host city, Zamora has a notable old town, designated as a historic-artistic site since 1973. Elongated in shape and largely surrounded by walls, it stands on a wide rocky plateau on the edge of the Duero River.
It has 59,475 inhabitants (according to the INE 2022 data). Its collection of Romanesque buildings stands out, consisting of 23 churches, making it the city with the largest number and finest quality of Romanesque temples in Europe. It is a candidate for European Heritage designation.
This Romanesque heritage includes, in addition to the cathedral (which features an exterior dome decorated with scales), twenty-four other churches, a castle, walls, a bridge, two palaces, and nine manor houses, which is why Zamora is considered “the city of Romanesque.” It also boasts nineteen modernist buildings.
The city is home to regional and international institutions, such as the Ethnographic Museum of Castile and León, the Consultative Council of Castile and León, and the Spanish-Portuguese cooperation organization Fundación Rei Afonso Henriques (FRAH).
It was the first city in the world with global WiFi coverage, a project called “Zamora Hot City,” which received the “Nobel Prize” of computing, the Computerworld Honors.
The area is piloting important regional initiatives to promote independent living and the ability of the elderly to remain in their environment, as part of the New Care Model promoted by the regional government in collaboration with social and technological entities.
